AMERICANS have the chance to grab a share of a $5.8million settlement – and don’t even need documents to cash in.
Nationstar Mortgage has agreed to pay the millions to resolve claims that it broke mortgage servicing laws.
It is alleged that the violation led to some borrowers losing their homes through foreclosure – when a property is repossessed due to mortgage payments not being made.
The settlement will benefit borrowers who lost their homes after their loans were transferred to Nationstar for servicing.
The transfer must have happened between February 1, 2011, and December 18, 2017, and the loans must have been marked 30 days overdue within 90 days of the transfer.
It will also benefit borrowers who had their properties inspected by Nationstar, designated as vacant and had the locks changed.
To qualify in this category, the lock change must have happened between June 24, 2011, and December 29, 2017, and the borrower must have requested access to the property within 30 days of the lock change.
Those who had the status of their properties changed to occupied through a further inspection within 90 days of the lock change will also qualify.
Nationstar is accused of breaking the law by committing numerous service errors and abuses.
It is alleged these actions caused financial harm to borrowers, and caused some to lose their homes.
Nationstar is a mortgage company that offers home loans, refinancing and other mortgage services.
It has agreed to similar settlements in the past.
Borrowers who qualify may be eligible for a cash payment, the size of which depends on which settlement group they qualify for.
The size of the payments has not been estimated by the settlement website, though class members may have received an minimum payment figure in a letter.
The deadline for claimants to submit a claim form is March 3, 2025.
It is also the last chance for Americans to get checks worth up to $6,000 in a settlement from insurers Arthur J. Gallagher & Co.
These people could get their share of a huge $21million data breach settlement after an alleged cyber attack compromised personal information.
This data breach could have affected customers between June 3, 2020 and September 26, 2020.
Forms must be submitted by February 10.
Americans could also cash in on up to $5,000 from another multi-million data breach settlement paid by insurers Progressive.
The company has agreed to pay out $3.25million over claims it failed to protect client’s information, and there is not long left to get your share.
Class members must submit a valid claim form by February 18, 2025.
