JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — Eastman Credit Union (ECU) has donated thousands of dollars to local Salvation Army locations.
The Salvation Army of Johnson City announced in a news release that it had received an “essential kettle match donation of $5,000” from the credit union. The Salvation Army reported that ECU also donated the same amount to the Kingsport and Bristol locations.
“We appreciate Eastman Credit Union’s support to enable us to serve our neighbors in need with excellence all year round,” Major Maureen Diffley, Corps Officer for The Salvation Army in Johnson City, said in the release. “They have been a great partner for many years and have helped The Salvation Army consistently make a difference in our community over the decades.”
The funds raised for the Salvation Army during the holidays allow the organization to give gifts to children through the Angel Tree program and help those in need all year.
Each year, the Salvation Army of Johnson City provides more than 17,000 nights of stay to guests at the shelter and serves more than 51,000 meals.
In addition to serving as a shelter, the Salvation Army provides items like clothing and bedding and offers services like case management and housing plan assistance.
