Family Savings Credit Union branches from across Alabama joined together to pack meal kits for local food pantries in honor of National Random Acts of Kindness Day.

In honor of National Random Acts of Kindness Day, Family Savings CU partnered with The Outreach Program and United Way of East Central Alabama to pack 50,000 meal kits for local food pantries. The event, held at the Venue in Gadsden, saw every Family Savings CU employee roll up their sleeves for a day dedicated to community service.

Nearly 300 employees across every branch dedicated approximately two hours to assembling macaroni and oatmeal meal kits—each kit containing all the ingredients needed to prepare a complete, hearty meal. After the packing session, teams personally delivered the kits to food pantries in thirteen counties across the communities the credit union serves, ensuring that essential meals reached those in need.

“It’s incredible to see our family come together and make such a significant impact on our communities,” said Danny Varnon, president and CEO of Family Savings CU. “Service is at the core of who we are, and today’s event truly exemplified that commitment. Every employee’s dedication and teamwork helped us achieve this remarkable milestone, and it reinforces our belief in the power of working together to create lasting change.”

The initiative, one of the largest community service efforts undertaken by Family Savings CU, highlighted not only the operational capability of the organization but also its deep-rooted commitment to making a tangible difference. The spirit of servitude was palpable as employees worked side by side, demonstrating that when a community comes together under a common goal, extraordinary outcomes are possible.
