Inspired by the opportunity to double their impact, credit union members contributed generously to help local families facing hunger this holiday season, according to a news release from the credit union. With this latest donation, LorMet has contributed over $217,000 to Second Harvest since 2016, helping provide an estimated one million meals to families in the community.

“Our goal with our first campaign for Second Harvest in 2016 was to demonstrate our shared commitment to supporting families in our communities,” said Daniel Cwalina, president/CEO of LorMet Community Credit Union, in the release. “Simply asking for donations without doing our part didn’t feel right, so we chose to match our members’ contributions to amplify our impact. Together, we’ve been able to provide over one million meals over eight years. Reflecting on this journey, it’s inspiring to see the continued generosity of our members and the powerful impact we’ve made together for local families.”

Said Julie Chase-Morefield, president & CEO of Second Harvest in the release, “Because LorMet and their members have stepped up again this year, the impact on local families will be significant. Our food pantries saw a 32% increase in household visits this past year and their generosity will go a long way to help our neighbors enjoy the holidays. We are so grateful for the LorMet team and all they’ve done to help the community.”
