Angela L. Scott—a former Assistant U.S. Attorney with more than a decade of trial experience—has joined Ballard Spahr’s Litigation Department and Consumer Financial Services Group as of counsel, firm Chair Peter Michaud announced today. Angela is resident in the firm’s Los Angeles office.
At Ballard Spahr, Angela will focus on consumer financial services litigation and all manner of state and federal consumer financial services enforcement actions. She’ll work alongside John Kimble in Los Angeles as the group enhances its strength on the West Coast.
“Our Consumer Financial Services litigation volume is up 35 percent over last year as a result of strong market share, driven by positive client experience, robust business planning, and demonstrated capability,” said Daniel JT McKenna, who co-leads the Consumer Financial Services Group alongside John D. Socknat. “We expect growth to continue at this pace, if not exceed it, especially in California. With her exceptional trial skills and business-focused mindset, Angela is a superb addition to our growing bench.”
Angela joined Ballard Spahr from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of California, where she most recently served as an Anti-Terrorism Advisory Council Coordinator. She also has worked for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California and the Los Angeles office of a global law firm.
“When I decided to return to private practice, I knew I wanted to join a firm that was at the forefront of legal issues that affect their clients’ businesses,” Angela said. “Ballard’s Consumer Financial Services Group is known for closely partnering with clients and is a national market leader in the industry. I am eager to lend my experience to the team.”
