Oak Ridge, Tenn. – The Board of Directors of ORNL Federal Credit Union (ORNL FCU) announced today that Jenny Vipperman has been named president and chief executive officer, effective October 1, 2023. Vipperman will replace Colin Anderson, who will retire after serving over 10 years at ORNL FCU, including eight years as president.
“I am honored and excited to be joining ORNL FCU as the next president and CEO,” Vipperman stated. “I want to thank the Board of Directors for entrusting me to lead the credit union as we build upon its 75 year legacy.”
Vipperman, with over 15 years in the credit union industry, joins ORNL FCU from VyStar Credit Union, located in Jacksonville, Fla., where she served as Chief Lending Officer (CLO). In her role as CLO, she led VyStar in its efforts to become a Military-Family Brand and Employer and receive its designation as a community development financial institution (CDFI). During her tenure at VyStar, Jenny developed numerous proprietary lending programs to serve the underserved and managed the growth of the credit union’s diverse and profitable portfolio by more than $4 billion in five years.
Vipperman’s experience in the financial services industry is vast and includes key roles leading all facets of lending, servicing, risk management, secondary marketing, and VyStar’s wholly-owned credit union service organization (CUSO). She serves the credit union industry as the current fundraising committee chair and past board secretary of the National Credit Union Foundation, a co-chair of the Mortgage Bankers Association Credit Union Network, and a contributor to the World Council of Credit Unions, with engagements in Guatemala, Peru, and Ecuador. Vipperman is also a board member of Zest AI and Coviance, two fintechs serving the credit union industry.
“We are excited to have Jenny join the ORNL FCU team. She is a nationally-recognized credit union leader whose commitment to the credit union movement is demonstrated through her personal and professional work to improve the financial lives of all members,” said Randy Gorman, ORNL FCU board chair. “Her unique experience and expertise of the credit union industry will be essential as ORNL FCU continues to grow and be the best financial partner for our members.”
“Fueled by our shared passion for member service and unwavering commitment to our community, I look forward to working alongside the ORNL FCU staff and volunteers to further invest in the experiences and value we bring to our members, employees, and community,” Vipperman stated.
Vipperman earned a Master of Business Administration from George Mason University and a bachelor’s degree from Virginia Tech. She earned the Certified Mortgage Banker designation from the Mortgage Bankers Association in 2020. Active in her community, Vipperman was appointed by the Jacksonville Mayor to serve on the Board of Kids Hope Alliance and volunteers with several charities including Habitat for Humanity and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
