OGDENSBURG – St. Lawrence Federal Credit Union (SLFCU) has reached a rich milestone celebrating its 70th year of business in St. Lawrence County.
“We are grateful to have reached our 70th Anniversary. From our humble beginnings in 1954 to becoming a trusted financial partner for thousands of members across multiple counties, our story is one of growth, resilience, and a steadfast commitment to our community. We started as one branch at the St. Lawrence State Hospital and have now expanded to six branches throughout St. Lawrence County,” stated Amber Taylor, CEO and President and on behalf of the Board of Directors.
There are two SLFCU branches in Ogdensburg and one each in Canton, Potsdam, Heuvelton, and Hermon.
SLFCU held a celebration the week of November 10, stopping by a random selection of schools to deliver winter essentials for children in need. On Wednesday, Nov. 13, they sponsored a food truck with a free lunch, cupcakes, snacks, and raffles for the membership.
“We see this milestone as not just a reflection of our credit union’s longevity, but a testament to the values that define us: people helping people. Over the past seven decades, we have weathered economic challenges, embraced technological advancements, and expanded our reach, all while keeping the needs of our members at the heart of everything we do,” Taylor added.
In a press release, Taylor issued praise to SLFCU’s membership and employees.
“To our members: you are the core of the credit union. Whether you’ve been with us for decades or joined us recently, your trust and loyalty have made this milestone possible. Thank you for choosing us for your financial needs and for allowing us to serve you.”
“We also have an outstanding team of employees who bring passion and dedication to their roles every day. The employees’ roles here go outside providing financial needs; it’s about fostering relationships, supporting our local communities, and helping our members achieve their aspirations.”
